What better way to ring in the New Year than with a newly acquired antique to add to your collection? My husband and I recently made a trip a local antique market and found a 'Grimwade's Quick-Cooker'. I immediately had to snatch it up!
It's a wonderful piece of English pottery and culinary history. You can find out all you need to know about it, just by reading what's written all over it's surfaces. It has instructions and advertisements printed all over it. It worked by providing a central column through which steam would rise and heat the contents (either Engligh pudding or stews) so it would cook quicker, just like it's name... 'Grimwade's Quick-Cooker'.
It makes a great conversation piece and would be great to make pudding!
